While Orcadians are crofters with a boat, Shetlanders are fishermen with a croft. The harsh conditions and poor soils in Shetland have developed a strong tradition of seafaring. The fishing industry is still an important activity in these rich waters. ----- Si les Orcadiens sont des paysans avec une barque, les Shetlandais sont dse pêcheurs avec un champ, disait-on.
