FR-ALS-0349 - Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle: second drawbridge, decorated with armorial bearings of the Hohenzollern, leading to the grand bastion. An impressive restored medieval castle overlooking the Rhine Plain. Sacked during Thirty Years' War by swedish troops in 1633. Kaiser Wilhelm II financed the restoration of the castle as part of the re-Germanization of Alsace, around the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. Today, it is beautifully restored (600 000 visitors/year) with complete furniture in most rooms. - - Le chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg: second pont-levis, decore des armoiries des Hohenzollern, menant au grand bastion de defense a l'ouest. Chateau medieval restaure, qui domine la plaine d'Alsace. Le chateau fut detruit pendant la guerre de Trente Ans en 1633 par des troupes suedoises. Le Kaiser Guillaume II le fit restaurer au debut du XXe S, dans le cadre de sa politique de germanisation de l'Alsace. Le chateau est tres bien restaure et presente aussi des interieurs meubles tres interessants (600 000 visiteurs/an). |
